UK Tourists warned not to buy the wrong breathalysers for France!
Posted by betta on May 16, 2012 in News tagged with motoring blog ukDespite widespread coverage about France making it compulsory to carry a breathalyser in their car, UK motorists are unaware that the breathalyser needs to conform to French standards, warns AlcoSense breathalysers. The law change effects all motor-powered road vehicles travelling in France (including cars, trucks and motor bikes).
The breathalysers must carry the French NF marking (NF is the French equivalent to the UK BSI Kite Mark). Currently there are only three products available in the UK which have the NF standard.
British company AlcoSense has launched a new single-use disposable breathalyser, the AlcoSense Singles NF, specifically to meet the French requirements.
Priced at only £4.99 for a twin pack, Betta Motoring will be stocking them as soon as they are available online, and instore.
AlcoSense Singles NF offer a very cheap way for UK holiday makers to comply with the new regulation.
The French Transport Ministry advises carrying two so, in the event of one being used, another is still available. This will include UK motorists travelling in or through the country.
